The word ‘Sikh’ means a disciple, a learner, a seeker of truth. It has been laid down in Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh Code of Conduct) that for a Sikh there is no restriction in dress except that he must wear a Kachchehra (knee long breeches) and Dastar (Turban). For a Sikhs, Turban is a symbol of dignity and stands for freedom, liberty and justice.
