This book is an humble attempt to present the important submissions, court’s judgement and notable reporting in media regarding the case of Gurleen Kaur… vs. State of Punjab in the Punjab & Haryana High Court, which highlighted the issue of Sehajdhari Sikh. This writ petition was instituted by a student who was denied admission to a course in a college run by SGPC on the ground that since the student trimmed her hair and plucked her eyebrows, she was not entitled to a seat reserved for a Sikh. The petitioner contended that she was a Sehajdhari Sikh and was not required to maintain the hair uncut but nonetheless she was entitled to admission. This treatise is an important contribution to the Sikh Studies and will be of interest to all readers and scholars alike.
