Formation of SGPC in 1920 manifested the sikh aspiration to have a common and uniform system of management of their religious shrines all over India. Starting from its very first session in 1926, the statutory SGPC has resolved umpteen times for the passage of such legislation. All India Sikh Gurdwaras Act has been a major demand of the Sikhs in the Anandpur Sahib Resolution and the Dharam Yudh Morcha. The SGPC and the Punjab Government has got Drafts of the All India Gurdwaras Bill prepared five times. The book contains a comprehensive account and analysis of all these events and developments wherein the author has mostly been a participant during the preceding half century. Pros and cons of all India legislation have also been discussed to enable the community to proceed further in this regard
