Jap Sahib, Swaiyyas and Chaupai composed by the tenth master Guru Gobind Singh, are included in the daily prayer of the Sikhs. Jap Sahib is a poetic offering to the Ultimate Reality in a beautiful language. One dissolves himself in the music and rhythm of the verse in the early ambrosial hours. Swaiyyas (lit. quatrains) reject all form of ritualistic worship and underscore devotion as the the essence of religion in a beautiful rhythm. Chaupai is the Guru’s invocation, in Chaupai metre, to the Supreme Lord, seeking His blessings and protection.
