Baldev Singh 'Sadaknama' (15.07.1943) a Punjabi writer was born to Bachint Kaur and Hardial Singh in village Achariki Tehsil Abohar, district Faridkot near Sri Ganga Nagar, Rajasthan. He is married to Kuljeet Kaur.
He spent his youthful years in Kolkata as a taxi driver. He saw the different dimensions of the lives of drivers very closely and contributed a column ‘Sadaknama’ in Amrita Pritam's monthly ‘Nagmani’. This column was well received by the readers and associated his name to this epithet.
He has various notable works to his credit and was awarded Sahitya Akademi Award in 2011, besides numerous awards by different literary foras.
