The present work of Prof. Jagbir Singh deals with one on the most important contemporary issues. It is concerned with analysis and interpretation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from the perspective of interfaith dialogue and understanding. He starts with defining and clarifying the core concepts of his study (faith, religion, and dharma) and tries to explore their meaning and significance in our contemporary socio-cultural reality. Prof. Singh fuitfully utilizes the insights provided by recent developments in the field of contemporary religious studies. The chief merit of this work lies in the application of interdisciplinary and comparative models of interpretation. While analyzing the concepts relating to interfaith dialogue in the discourse of Sri Guru Granth Sahib he Keeps the wider civilization context in mind. Although his main focus is on the dharma traditions of Indic Civilization (Hinduism, Budhism, Jainism and Sikhism) but at the same time he also tries to build a comparative perspective of the major faiths of Abrahamic Civilization (Judaism, Christianity and Islam).
