Nahar Singh (Historian) (13.04.1905-11.03.1998) a Punjabi historian was born to Harnam Kaur and Bhagwan Singh in village Nangal Khurd, Pakhewal, District Ludhiana.
He passed his marticulation from Malwa Khalsa High School, Ludhiana and F.A. from Mohindra College and M.A. History from Government College, Lahore in 1930. He served as Secretary of Khalsa National Party (1936-1941). In 1935, he came in contact with Sunder Singh Majitha. In 1939, he served at Surya Sugar Factory in Gorakhpur. In 1941, after the death of Sunder Singh Majitha, he served as Personal Secretary to his son Surjit Singh Majitha, who had also been Deputy Defence Minister.
He had a deep interest in Punjabi history, especially the period related to the struggle for freedom of India. He explored the old files in Archives of India and published many volumes of rare documents which bring into light many hidden facts about the Indian Independence movement.
