With a view to create awareness for the conservation of precious tangible heritage of the Sikh Community, the National Institute of Panjab Studies initiated a major project of digitizing and cataloguing rare Guru Granth Sahib Manuscripts located in different parts of India and abroad. In the course of this field work, nearly three hundred rare Guru Granth Sahib Birs have been located, out of Which more than two hundred and fifty have already been digitized. In order to share the benefits of the field work with interested Scholars, IIIustrated Catalogue has been brought out in four volumes giving basic information about the precious tangible heritage.
